SAN GIUSEPPE, CUSTODE DELLA SS. EUCARISTIA - 10

a proposito della preghiera
"A te, o beato Giuseppe":

E' una bella preghiera!
La recito ogni giorno 
prima della Santa Messa
e certamente lo fanno 
molti Sacerdoti nel mondo.

Poiché come Padre e Protettore di Gesù 
San Giuseppe poté tenerlo e portarlo 
nelle sue braccia, 
i Sacerdoti si rivolgono a san Giuseppe 
con l'ardente domanda di poter celebrare
il Sacrificio eucaristico
con la stessa venerazione
e con lo stesso amore 
con cui Egli adempiva la sua missione
di Padre putativo del Figlio di Dio.

Le mani del Sacerdote,
che toccano il Corpo Eucaristico di Cristo,
vogliono impetrare da san Giuseppe 
la grazia di una castità e di una venerazione 
pari a quella che il santo falegname di Nazaret 
dimostrava nei riguardi del suo Figlio putativo.

A TE, O BEATO GIUSEPPE

A te, o beato Giuseppe, stretti dalla tribolazione ricorriamo, e fiduciosi invochiamo il tuo patrocinio dopo quello della tua Santissima Sposa.

Deh! per quel sacro vincolo di carità che ti strinse all’Immacolata Vergine Madre di Dio, e per l’amore paterno che portasti al fanciullo Gesù, guarda, te ne preghiamo, con occhio benigno la cara eredità che Gesù Cristo acquistò col suo sangue, e col tuo potere ed aiuto sovvieni ai nostri bisogni.

Proteggi, o provvido Custode della divina Famiglia, l’eletta prole di Gesù Cristo; allontana da noi, o Padre amantissimo, la peste di errori e di vizi che ammorba il mondo; assistici propizio dal cielo in questa lotta contro il potere delle tenebre, o nostro fortissimo protettore; e come un tempo salvasti dalla morte la minacciata vita del pargoletto Gesù, così ora difendi la santa Chiesa di Dio dalle ostili insidie e da ogni avversità: e stendi ognora sopra ciascuno di noi il tuo patrocinio, affinché sul tuo esempio, e mercé il tuo soccorso, possiamo vivere virtuosamente, piamente morire, e conseguire l’eterna beatitudine in cielo. Così sia.

AD TE BEÁTE JOSEPH

Ad te beáte Joseph, in tribulatióne nostra confúgimus, atque, imploráto Sponsæ tuæ sanctíssimæ auxílio, patrocínium quoque tuum fidenter expóscimus.

Per eam, quæsumus, quæ te cum immaculáta Vírgine Dei Genitríce coniúnxit, caritátem, perque patérnum, quo Púerum Iesum ampléxus es, amórem, súpplices deprecámur, ut ad hereditátem, quam Iesus Christus acquisívit Sánguine suo, benígnus respícias, ac necessitátibus nostris tua virtúte et ope succúrras.

Tuére, o Custos providentíssime divínæ Famíliæ, Iesu Christi sóbolem eléctam; próhibe a nobis, amantíssime Pater, omnem errórum ac corruptelárum luem; propítius nobis, sospítator noster fortíssime, in hoc cum potestáte tenebrárum certámine e cælo adésto; et sicut olim Púerum Iesum e summo eripuísti vitre discrímine, ita nunc Ecclesiam sanctam Dei ab hostílibus insídiis atque ab omni adversitáte défende: nosque síngulos perpétuo tege patrocínio, ut ad tui exémplar et ope tua suffúlti, sancte vívere, pie émori, sempiternámque in cæ lis beatitúdinem ássequi possímus. TO THEE, O BLESSED JOSEPH

(Pope Leo XIII, Encyclical "Quamquam Pluries", August 15th, 1889)

To thee, O blessed Joseph, we have recourse in our affliction, and having implored the help of thy thrice holy Spouse, we now, with hearts filled with confidence, earnestly beg thee also to take us under thy protection.

By that charity wherewith thou wert united to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God, and by that fatherly love with which thou didst cherish the Child Jesus, we beseech thee and we humbly pray that thou wilt look down with gracious eye upon that inheritance which Jesus Christ purchased by His blood, and wilt succor us in our need by thy power and strength.

Defend, O most watchful guardian of the Holy Family, the chosen off-spring of Jesus Christ. Keep from us, O most loving Father, all blight of error and corruption. Aid us from on high, most valiant defender, in this conflict with the powers of darkness. And even as of old thou didst rescue the Child Jesus from the peril of His life, so now defend God's Holy Church from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity. Shield us ever under thy patronage, that, following thine example and strengthened by thy help, we may live a holy life, die a happy death, and attain to everlasting bliss in Heaven. Amen.
